Phantom Chess: Shadows That Fight Back

Phantom Chess adds a new layer of tension to classic chess by leaving a temporary shadow behind every piece. Each Phantom lasts for one turn, turning the board into a shifting battlefield where space, timing, and obstruction matter more than ever.

Enemy Phantoms act like solid walls, so you cannot move through them. If you need to remove one, you can move directly onto an enemy Phantom and destroy it, but that costs your turn. Your own Phantoms never block your movement, which keeps your position flexible while still making the opponent’s path dangerous.

All the essential chess rules remain active. Check, checkmate, castling, en passant, and promotion all work normally, so Phantom Chess keeps the familiar structure of chess while adding a fast, tactical shadow mechanic that changes how every move is played.
